Professor Masashi Hayakawa visiting our Institute

Professor Masashi Hayakawa, University of Electro-Communications, Department of Electronic Engineering and Reaserch Station on Seismo Electromagntics, visited our Institute from Feb.15 to18, 2009. During his visit, Prof. Hayakawa gave a lecture entitled “Seismo Electromagnetics: History and Latest Results”. About 30 researchers and students from Institute of Geophysics, Institute of Earthquake Science, Institute of Crustal Dynamics, Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Networks Center, Institute of Geology and Geophysics Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the lecture...... more.

Dr. Jian Lin Visiting the Institute 

Dr. Lin Jian visited our Institute on Feb.9, 2009, who is a researcher of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and professor of MIT/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography and Ocean Engineering. He gave a talk entitled "Multiple mechanisms of earthquake triggering: Worldwide examples and mplications for the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake". Prof. Wu Zhongliang, Director General of the Institute, Deputy Directors Prof. Qiao Sen and Prof. Gao Mengtan, and professors, graduate students attended the lecture. Prof. Sen Qiao presided the lecture and discussion.

Dr. Masami OSHIMA Visiting Our Institute 

Dr. Masami OSHIMA from Chiyota Advanced Solution Corporation visited our institute on Dec.12, 2008. Dr. Fedir Dudkin gave a talk titled “Seismic assessment of existing plant facilities”. He introduced the performance of oil tank in the earthquakes of Japan and the new method of seismic assessment of the existing energy facilities. Dr. Liu Aiwen from IGPCEA introduced the seismic design of the energy facilities in China. After lectures both side experts had a detailed discussion about the possible cooperation in the future.

Dr. Fedir Dudkin Visiting Our Institute 

Dr. Fedir Dudkin from Lviv Centre of Institute for Space Research & Laboratory for EM Investigations, National Academy of Sciences and National Space Agency of Ukraine visited our institute from DEC.7 to DEC.14, 2008. During his visit, Dr. Fedir Dudkin gave a talk entitled “NEW METHODOLOGY TO EXTRACT THE EARTHQUAKE PRECURSORS USING MAGNETOMETER DATA” and had a detailed discussion about the new method with the scientists in the institute. He also gave us his advices and suggestion on our magnetic network after reviewing some of the observations from our network...... more.

Austrian scientist visit IGPCEA

Dr. Christa Hammerl from Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics of Austria is visiting Institute of Geophysics, CEA from Dec.1 to Dec.10 2008 for a bilateral cooperation project which supported by Science and Technology Ministries of Austria and Science and Technology Ministries of China. During her visiting, she gave a presentation title of “Historical seismology and historical earthquake research in Austria”.
